We’re home!

Our new condominium building.

After 104 days, 12,000 miles, and 25 states we made it home. It’s been an amazing journey and people everywhere couldn’t have been more kind to us (ok, except for one hotel employee in Montana, lol).

Our new flat .. .furniture arrives in a couple of days.

We’re excited to move into our new home and to give Seattle a go for at least a couple of years, after basically three years of being vagabonds. For those who don’t know, we purchased a condominium in Ballard just before we left town. Our journey in Finland reinforced the notion that we need less. Simplifying our life and moving out of a single family home to an easy to care for flat in a neighborhood where we can walk to everything is a major step for us. Although to be sure, being in our new home is luxurious compared to our living out of the car for the last few months.

If our trip was about seeing whether we can fall in love with America again .. then now we get to explore whether Seattle can be a city that we can love to call our home town. We’re not sure on that front … but are very much looking forward to finding out!  As a Cancer (astrological sign, not a disease), I can say that I’m really looking forward to nesting for a while.

Last, but most certainly not least, I also count my blessings every day to be lucky to have met  someone crazy enough to be on a life journey with me and put up with me. This, even when that means spending hundreds of hours in a small car the size of a phone booth with no way of escaping. Thank you, Dinah, for being my travel mate through not just this trip but our 35 years together. Let’s do it again.
