Sometimes on this trip there are brief glimpses into parts of America that you wish you could dive into, but have to rush to the next place to see a friend or family member or even just get to a reservation. Walker Valley Market, run by the Amish, in Pearisburg, VA, was one of those places. Aisles and aisles of simply, but beautifully displayed locally made foods begged for more attention, but alas we needed to purchase quickly and check out at the counter with the impeccably dressed young Amish cashier with a heavy southern accent who felt like she was from another world. I’m hoping that we can glean more of this culture in Pennsylvania!

The humble entrance to Walker Valley Market. I don’t get the joke “Sorry we’re open” and I want to.
